Another example of Compulsive Art - better known as “drawing for the pleasure of it, nyah.”
I like to lie on my bed or sit on the couch watching movies and draw. This ‘Robot Tour-Guide” was drawn while watching a movie. I’ve always drawn robot girls, even before I saw my first Soryima stuff. I think I must have seen and been marked by ‘Metropolis’ at an early age. Something remarkable about this piece, and indeed about a lot of my recent work - including some Days Off - is that I drew them with ink. In other words, I didn’t make a sketch with a pencil first. I also make no corrections and just try to turn my accidents into part of the art. This may sound like a brag, and I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that there is some classic Leo pride involved; but the real pride comes from knowing that just a few short years ago, I was hesitant about drawing even with a pencil, eraser and whiteout to hand. This kind of confidence is a big leap for me as an artist.
