My friend Joe is a single father of four (HI CODY, JARED, NIC & CARMEN!), a very talented metal-worker, a really good (not to mention good-looking) guy, and coincidentally first cousin to one of the two lead singers of the band 311, Doug “SA” Martinez. I’ve always been a fan, and a couple of years ago Joe took me to see them in Charlotte. Not only did we got backstage, but I actually got to be ON stage with the guys. That was DEFINITELY a night to remember.
Doug got married (to beautiful Jennifer) back in April, and Joe commissioned me to do a wedding portrait to fill the frame that he made for them as a wedding gift - what an honor! The whole time I was working on this I kept thinking: “I’M DRAWING SA’S WEDDING PORTRAIT”* Here is the portrait and the frame. The total size is about 24”x20”. The frame is made of steel and painted in a verdigris finish. Joe even made the dolphins by hand.

*well, and “MAN, SA IS HOT!” too, but hey... if the soul patch fits...
